Prof. Guihua Yu is currently with Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He received Ph.D. degree from Harvard University in 2009, after graduating from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) with the highest honor in 2003. Dr. Yu did his postdoc research at Stanford University (2009-2012).

Prof. Yu's research focuses on rational design and synthesis of functional nano-architectured materials, particularly organic and hybrid organic-inorganic nanomaterials, fundamental understanding of their chemical and physical properties, and development of large-scale assembly and integration methodologies to enable their technologically important applications in energy, environment and sustainability. Yu has published ~230 peer-reviewed papers in many prominent scientific journals (~42,200 total citations, H-index~110) including Science, Nature, Nature Reviews MaterialsNature MaterialsNature Nanotechnology, Nature Catalysis, Nature Sustainability, Nature Communications, Science Advances, PNAS, Chemical ReviewsChemical Society Reviews, Accounts of Chemical Research, Chem, Joule, JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, Energy & Environmental Sciences, Nano LettersACS Nano, ACS Central Science, ACS Energy Letters, Chemistry of Materials, Chemical Science, Materials Horizons, Materials Today, Nano Today, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Applied Physics Reviews, etc, and he has been constantly ranked as Top 1% Highly Cited Researcher in Materials Science by Thomson Reuters since 2017. He currently serves as Chair of MRS News Subcommittee-Nano Focus, Vice Chair of ECS Texas Section and ECS Battery Division Member-at-Large.
